Reclaimed Creations supplies reclaimed white oak and red oak flooring, milled from salvaged fence board, reclaimed beams, and other reclaimed stock. We have been in the reclaimed wood business in Hopewell Junction since 2014. Flooring is a special order product. We do not keep it in the yard, so every floor is graded, milled, and packed for your job after the order goes in. Lead time runs two to three weeks.

What We Carry

Two species, each in three options. Grade A is the cleaner of the two grades. Grade B is rougher and less refined, with more texture. Grade B is also offered with the original circle saw marks left in the face.

White oak runs tan through light brown with a tight closed grain. It is the harder and more dimensionally stable of the two species. Red oak is warmer, with a pink to red undertone and a more open grain that reads busier underfoot.

Where the Wood Comes From

The board comes out of salvaged race horse fence, reclaimed beams, and other reclaimed stock we source through the Northeast. It stood outdoors for decades, which is why the color runs from pale gray through deep brown inside a single pack, and why you will find weather lines, checking, and knot holes across the face.

Those marks are the reason people buy reclaimed instead of new. They are original to the board and they do not get sanded out.

Every floor ships unfinished. No stain, no sealer, no surface coating. Sanding and finishing happen on site after the floor is laid, which is how most installers prefer to work with reclaimed material anyway.

Character Grades

Grade A is the cleaner of the two. You still get color variation, cracks, weather lines, and knot holes, because that is what reclaimed board is. There is simply less of it across a pack and the swing from one board to the next is narrower.

Grade B is rougher. Less refined, more texture, deeper weather lines, wider color range board to board, and more knot holes. If the reason you want reclaimed is that you want it to look reclaimed, this is the grade.

Grade B with circle saw marks keeps the arcing cuts left by the mill blade that first sawed the board. It is the most textured floor we supply.

How Ordering Works

  • ✦Ask for samples if you want to see the species and grade in person before you order.
  • ✦Tell us the square footage, the species, the width, and the grade. If you are not sure on grade, describe the room and we will tell you which one usually suits it.
  • ✦We confirm the specification and quote it, including freight to your zip code.
  • ✦The order goes in and your floor is graded, milled, and packed.
  • ✦It ships in two to three weeks.

We do not stock flooring, and that is the whole reason for the lead time. Nothing sits on a rack waiting, so what arrives is milled for your job rather than picked over from whatever is left.

Minimum order is 500 square feet. Order 10 to 15 percent above your measured square footage, because random length board wastes more on the cut list than a new floor does.

Orders under 1,000 square feet carry a small order charge, quoted with your order.

Pickup and Delivery

You are welcome to pick up at our yard in Hopewell Junction at no charge, or we will quote delivery to your site. We deliver through New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, and ship nationwide by freight.

What a Floor Costs

Frequently Asked Questions About Reclaimed Wood Flooring

Does the flooring come finished?+

No. Every floor ships unfinished, exactly as it comes off the mill. No stain and no sealer. You or your installer sand and finish it on site once it is laid.

What is the minimum order?+

500 square feet. That is one pack.

Can I see it before I order?+

Yes. We give out samples, so you can see the species and grade in person before you order. Call first and tell us what you are looking at. You can pick them up at the yard, or we can mail them to you. Photographs are the weak point with reclaimed material, because color shifts with the light and texture is something you have to put a hand on.

How much extra should I order?+

Ten to fifteen percent over your measured square footage. Random length flooring produces more offcut than a new floor with uniform boards.

Do you install it?+

No. We supply the material. Installation is handled by you or your flooring contractor.

Why does it take two to three weeks?+

Because it is a special order. We hold no flooring in stock. The board is graded, milled, and packed after your order goes in.

Can it go over radiant heat?+

That depends on your subfloor and your heating system, not on the wood alone. Ask your installer and your radiant manufacturer before you order, because three quarter inch solid flooring has real requirements over radiant.

Do you deliver?+

We deliver through New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, and we ship nationwide by freight. Freight is quoted with your zip code.

Can I pick it up myself?+

Yes, and there is no charge for it. The yard is at 40 Railroad Ave in Hopewell Junction. Call ahead so someone is there and the order is staged. Otherwise we will quote delivery to your site.
