Reclaimed White Oak Flooring in Grade B

Call (845) 232-8943

Grade B is our rougher white oak. Less refined than grade A, with more texture, deeper weather lines, and a wider color range board to board. It is reclaimed, it is special order, and it ships unfinished. Lead time is two to three weeks.

What Grade B Gives You

More of everything that makes reclaimed board worth buying. Deeper weather lines, more checking, more knot holes, and a color range that runs from pale gray through deep brown inside the same pack.

A grade B floor announces itself. In a large open room that works, because the variation has space to spread out and reads as texture rather than noise. In a small room it can dominate, which is worth thinking about before you order.

See It In Person

Still White Oak Underneath

The grade describes the character, not the wood. This is the same closed grain white oak as grade A, with the same tyloses in the pores that make it hold up against moisture and move less across the seasons. It is the harder of the two oaks we carry.

So you get the durability of white oak with the appearance of a floor that has been somewhere.

Where People Use It

Great rooms, kitchens, restaurants, and taprooms. Anywhere the floor is meant to be part of the design rather than a neutral surface underneath it.

If that is more than you want, reclaimed white oak flooring in grade A is the cleaner option with the same species underneath. If it is not enough, the circle sawn version keeps the original mill blade marks in the face.

Ordering and Lead Time

This is a special order product. We do not carry it in the yard. Tell us the square footage, the width, and the grade, and we will quote the floor and the freight in one number.

Allow two to three weeks from the day the order goes in. Minimum order is 500 square feet, and you should add 10 to 15 percent above your measured square footage for waste.

Orders under 1,000 square feet carry a small order charge, quoted with your order.

You are welcome to pick up at our yard in Hopewell Junction at no charge, or we will quote delivery to your site.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much rougher is grade B than grade A?+

Noticeably. The individual features are the same, weather lines and checking and knot holes, but there are more of them and they are deeper. The bigger difference is the color range across a pack, which is much wider in grade B.

Is grade B lower quality?+

No. It is graded, kiln dried, and milled to the same specification as grade A. The grade describes how much character the board carries, not how well it was made.

Does it come finished?+

No. It ships unfinished, with no stain and no sealer. Sanding and finishing happen on site.

Will the deeper cracks cause problems?+

Checking in reclaimed board is stable and original to the wood. Most installers fill the deeper ones during finishing. Ask yours how they prefer to handle it before the floor is laid.

Can I see a pack before ordering?+

Come to the yard and we will show you what we have. Grade B is the one people most often want to see in person, because the range across a pack is hard to photograph.
