Reclaimed Circle Sawn White Oak Flooring with Original Blade Marks

Call (845) 232-8943

This is grade B white oak with the circle saw marks left in the face instead of milled away. The arcing cuts came from the mill blade that first sawed the board, and they are the whole point of the floor. Special order, supplied unfinished, two to three weeks.

What the Saw Marks Are

Before band mills took over, boards were cut on large circular blades. Every pass left a shallow arc across the face. On new flooring those marks get planed off. Here they stay.

The result is a surface with shallow relief rather than a flat plane. It is the most textured floor we supply and the one that reads oldest in a room.

See It In Person

How It Behaves in Light

This is the part photographs cannot show you. Saw marks catch raking light along their arcs, so the floor changes through the day as the sun moves across it. Under flat overhead light it settles down and reads much closer to a standard grade B floor.

If your room has low morning or evening sun coming in sideways, this floor will do something a flat face will not. If it is lit from above, you may be paying for texture you will rarely see.

Underfoot and Underhand

You can feel the arcs barefoot. Not enough to be uncomfortable, but enough to notice, and some people love that and some do not.

The texture also holds slightly more dust in the grooves than a flat floor. A vacuum handles it. A dry mop pushed across the arcs is less effective than one run along them.

Come look at it before you commit. This is the single product in our flooring line where seeing it in person changes the most minds.

Ordering and Lead Time

This is a special order product. We do not carry it in the yard. Tell us the square footage, the width, and the grade, and we will quote the floor and the freight in one number.

Allow two to three weeks from the day the order goes in. Minimum order is 500 square feet, and you should add 10 to 15 percent above your measured square footage for waste.

Orders under 1,000 square feet carry a small order charge, quoted with your order.

You are welcome to pick up at our yard in Hopewell Junction at no charge, or we will quote delivery to your site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a different grade?+

It is grade B board. The difference is that the original saw marks are left in the face rather than milled off, so you get the grade B character plus the blade texture.

Does it come finished?+

No. It ships unfinished, with no stain and no sealer, so the finish is chosen and applied on site.

Is it harder to clean?+

Slightly. The arcs hold a little more dust than a flat face. A vacuum handles it without trouble.

Can I get circle saw marks on grade A?+

The saw mark option comes on grade B board. Call and ask if you want something outside that, since everything here is special order anyway.

Does the texture affect installation?+

No. It is milled tongue and groove at the same three quarter inch thickness as everything else in the line, so it goes down the same way.
