White oak and red oak, milled to order · 500 sq ft minimum · Free pickup in Hopewell Junction
We usually reply the same business day.
Reclaimed Creations is based at 40 Railroad Ave in Hopewell Junction, in Dutchess County. We supply reclaimed white oak and red oak flooring for jobs across the Hudson Valley, including Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange counties.
Flooring is a special order, so none of it sits in the yard waiting. Each floor is graded, milled, and packed after the order goes in, which takes two to three weeks. The minimum order is 500 square feet.
White oak runs tan through light brown with a tight closed grain, and it is the harder and more stable of the two species. Red oak is warmer, with a pink undertone and a more open grain that reads busier underfoot.
Each species comes three ways. Grade A is the cleaner grade. Grade B is rougher, with deeper weather lines and more color change from board to board. Circle sawn is grade B with the arcing marks from the original mill blade left in the face.
All six are three quarter inch solid tongue and groove, in 3, 4, or 4.5 inch widths and random lengths from 1.5 to 7 feet, kiln dried and shipped unfinished. The full specifications are on the reclaimed wood flooring page.
There is no flooring in the yard to walk through, so samples are how you see the board before you order. Ask for them. You can pick them up at the yard in Hopewell Junction, or we can mail them to you.
Take them home, set them down in the room the floor is going into, next to the trim, and look at them at different times of day. Reclaimed oak changes a lot with the light, and a photograph will not show you that.
If the floor is going somewhere that gets used hard, that is an argument for reclaimed rather than against it.
A new floor looks worst the first time something happens to it, because the damage is the only mark on it. This board already carries weather lines, checking, and knot holes from decades outdoors. A new scratch lands on a surface that has been marked for a long time, and it does not stand out the same way.
Grade B is worth a look for those rooms, since more variation across the pack gives a new mark somewhere to disappear. If you are choosing between species for a room like that, white oak is the harder of the two. Grade A is the choice when you want the floor calmer.
Every grade ships unfinished, so the finish can be chosen for how the room is actually used. Ask your installer what they would put on it before you settle on a grade.
A barn being turned into living space and an old house being restored want different things from the same board.
A barn conversion is often open spans and high ceilings, with nothing old in the room except the shell. The floor does a lot of the work of making the space feel like it belongs, so more character earns its place. Grade B or circle sawn, in the widest width we carry, 4.5 inch, suits that kind of room. Circle sawn especially, since the arc marks read as mill work rather than decoration.
An old house being put back together is the opposite problem. The new floor has to sit next to baseboard, stair treads, and doors that are already there. That usually points to grade A, with the tone matched to what is already in the room rather than to what looks good in a photograph.
If you are not sure which one you are dealing with, describe the room when you call. It is the quickest way to narrow down species, grade, and width.
Pickup at our yard in Hopewell Junction is free. Call ahead and we will have the order staged for you. The yard is open Tuesday through Friday and Saturday mornings, by appointment only.
If you would rather have the floor delivered, we quote delivery with your zip code.
We sell the flooring, not the installation. You or your flooring contractor lay it.
These are worth asking your installer before you order rather than after:
If a contractor is running the job, they are welcome to call us directly with the measurements and the specification.

Yes. We deliver through New York and quote delivery with your zip code. Pickup at the yard in Hopewell Junction is free if you would rather pick the order up yourself.
Grade A if you want the floor calmer, or if it has to sit next to existing trim. Grade B or circle sawn if you want more character. If you are undecided, ask for samples of both grades and compare them in the room.
Not board for board. This wood spent decades outdoors, and a floor that has been indoors all that time has aged differently. Samples laid next to your existing floor are the best way to judge how close you can get on species, width, and tone. Grade A is easier to predict than grade B.
We quote every floor individually. Species, width, grade, and square footage all move the price. Orders under 1,000 square feet carry a small order charge, and delivery is quoted separately with your zip code.
Measure the rooms, add 10 to 15 percent for offcut, and send us the square footage, species, and width through the contact form, or call (845) 232-8943. Most quotes go out the same business day.
