Reclaimed Creations builds fireplace mantels from old growth reclaimed beams, and we deliver them throughout New York, Westchester County included. Every mantel is cut, sanded, and finished at our yard in Hopewell Junction, in Dutchess County, where we have built more than 750 of them since 2014.

Pick Your Beam in the Yard

A reclaimed beam is hard to judge from a photo. Its color changes with the light, and the texture is something you want to put a hand on. At the yard you can walk the racks, see hand-hewn and rough sawn beams side by side, and choose the one that goes over your fireplace.

Bring a photo of the fireplace and the width of the opening. We can cut your mantel from one already in stock or from a raw beam, and most orders are ready within two weeks. When yours is done, pick it up or have us deliver it.

The yard is at 40 Railroad Ave in Hopewell Junction. It is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday until noon, by appointment only. Call to set a time before you head up, so someone is there to walk the racks with you.

Hand-Hewn Mantels

A hand-hewn beam was squared by hand with an axe and an adze, usually a century or more ago. The face is uneven and the tool marks run deep, so no two hand-hewn mantels look alike.

Rough Sawn Mantels

A rough sawn beam was cut at a mill, so its face carries the arcing marks of a circular blade and sits flatter than hand-hewn. It reads cleaner on the wall and squares up well for a more finished installation.

A five-foot in-stock mantel is $495, sanded, finished, and ready to hang. There is no design fee and no extra charge for staining or sealing. Delivery in Westchester County depends on the size of the mantel and the distance, so call with your zip code and we will price it.

Yes. Tell us the length, height, and depth you want. If you are not sure, a photo of the fireplace with the opening width is usually enough for us to recommend a size that looks right.

Is reclaimed wood safe over a working fireplace?+

The mantels are kiln-dried and surface-washed, which kills anything living in the wood and lowers the moisture content. How far a mantel has to sit from the firebox is set by your local building code and by the maker of your insert or stove, so check both before you mount it.
