Reclaimed Creations builds fireplace mantels from old growth reclaimed beams, and we have sold them to customers on Long Island. We deliver across Nassau and Suffolk, from Garden City, Port Washington, and Huntington out to the Hamptons, or you can pick your mantel up at our yard in Hopewell Junction. Hand-Hewn or Rough Sawn?

Both come from old beams, and both are cut to your length, height, and depth. The difference is how the beam was first shaped, and it changes how the mantel reads on the wall. Hand-hewn reads older and more rustic. Rough sawn reads cleaner.

Hand-Hewn

Hand-hewn beams were squared by hand with an axe and an adze. The face is uneven and the tool marks are deep, so the surface catches the light in a way milled lumber does not.

Rough Sawn

Rough sawn beams were cut at a mill, and the circular blade left arcing marks across a flatter face. A rough sawn mantel squares up cleanly for a more finished installation.

Delivery and Pickup

We deliver mantels across Long Island. The cost depends on the size of the mantel and the distance, so send your zip code with your measurements and we will price both.

If you would rather see the beams first and take the mantel home yourself, the yard at 40 Railroad Ave in Hopewell Junction is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday until noon, by appointment only.

This is an estimate for a straight cut at standard depth. Anything beyond that, we will price on the phone once we have your measurements.

A five-foot in-stock mantel is $495, sanded, finished, and ready to hang, with no design fee and nothing extra for stain or sealer. Most orders are ready within two weeks.

Should I choose hand-hewn or rough sawn?+

Hand-hewn reads older and more rustic, with deep, uneven tool marks. Rough sawn reads cleaner and sits flatter. If you are torn, send us a photo of the fireplace and we can talk it through.

How do I take care of a reclaimed mantel?+

Dust it. If the finish dulls after a few years, a coat of paste wax brings it back. Keep household cleaners and anything with ammonia off the face.

Can I see the wood before I order?+

Yes. Come to the yard in Hopewell Junction, by appointment only, and pick the beam yourself. If the trip does not suit you, a photo of your fireplace is usually enough for us to recommend a size.
